With advent fast approaching we have taken the opportunity to find the best ways to tastefully prepare the entrance of your home for the festive season.
The traditional wreath is a fail-safe way to give your front door a festive twist. However, when choosing your wreath there are a few things to consider.
1) Is your wreath alive? If so, you must consider when you are having most of your guests and order your wreath accordingly; you don’t want a limp once-festive welcome to your home!
2) Before you pick a beaded or artificial wreath consider the colour of your door and the colour of the ribbon you will hang your wreath with to ensure that your choice is both festive and tasteful.
This season, we have noticed that copper is the colour of the moment. By including copper baubles, ribbons or leaves you will ensure that your door is the talk of the neighbourhood for all the right reasons!
Another fantastic way to create a festive welcome to your home is by introducing light. As can be seen below, adding an illuminated reindeer figure evokes an enchanted atmosphere that children in particular will love. Whilst it might be tempting to fill your whole entrance with a sleigh-full of figures, less is definitely more when it comes to enchanted characters! The two figures seen below are from John Lewis and can be viewed using the link below:

A more subtle way to add light to your doorway is through an LED rope light. As seen below, these can be a great way create a welcoming and festive entrance to your home. The lights below from Clas Ohlson look fantastic draped over cut wood. To view their full outdoor lights collection click on the link below:

Alternatively, lanterns are also a brilliant way to create a subtle, sophisticated festive entrance. By using lanterns up porch steps on evenings that you are expecting guests you evoke a sense of occasion as well as casting a warm glow over your doorway. Garden trading have put together a beautiful collection of tasteful lanterns, votives and candles that are perfect for lighting up your home, garden and porch! Our final tip for adding a subtle festive twist to your doorway is by adding LED lights to your existing shrubbery. Bay trees, structured hedges and miniature Christmas trees all look fantastic when lit up with a few strings of led lights. This potted Bay tree from Waitrose Florist looks particularly festive when adorned with light. To purchase a bay tree for your front doorway click on the link below:
