Reinvent your kitchen

As the new season approaches, you may be looking to add a new lease of life to your home. As Estate Agents in Notting Hill, we see a range of characters in their properties; we know all about creative individuals and how they use their homes to express their personalities. Take advantage of the spring as an opportunity to reinvent your kitchen and give ‘Spring Clean’ a whole new meaning.

Freshen the place up

With the warmer months approaching, everything is starting to get a little lighter and brighter. The days are longer and the trees will soon be greener so why not bring that feel into your kitchen. Let fresh air flow through the room by banishing blinds and opening up the windows. This will also help to eject any unwanted cooking smells, so that’s a bonus! If you are really looking to embrace the outdoors, add some potted plants to the room to increase the feel of freshness.

Declutter the space

Give your kitchen the spring clean it deserves and rid yourself of kitchen items that you are no longer getting use out of. If you are hoarding old pots and pans or crockery, this is the perfect opportunity to declutter the cupboards and give to charity. This same analogy applies to your food pantry and fridge/freezer. Free your countertops of mess and keep the area simplistic to make food preparation a much easier process.

Update your gadgets

Let’s face it, more often than not, new technology can really change the feel of a room. If you have the time and money to browse for a new food processor or microwave, do it! And if you don’t a deep cleanse of the items you already have is just as good.

Maximise the space

Decluttering the area will help with this, but there are so many things you can do to maximise the space in your kitchen. Pull out, hidden storage is a great way to make the most of your space allowing you to store things without it looking like your kitchen is full of cupboards. You can also install racking and hang your kitchen utensils from the wall, freeing up drawer space for other items.

Update your furnishings

If you’re not looking to take on a huge renovation project, updating your kitchen furnishings is a great way to give your kitchen a new feel. Buying new furnishings is a great way to update your space, but if you want to be a bit more creative, why not renovate the furnishings you already have? A lick of paint will transform your cupboard doors or a new table cloth will change the feel of your dining table.

Try a different theme

If you’re looking for more of a dramatic change this spring, you could think about changing the theme of your kitchen completely. While it’s a bigger project, it could give your kitchen that new lease of life that it has been waiting for. If you currently have a minimalist feel to your kitchen, why not move across to something a little more homely and chic. Or try a more colourful, retro feel.
